1-21-06 -- Read this great article on Bill O'Reilly, it is maybe the best article I have ever seen. The writer nails it, he talks about the O'Reilly spin and his appearence on Letterman. It is a must read article by a great writer.

O'Reilly Can't Take us For Another Spin

Despite O'Reilly's Claims The Factor Ratings Are Not Increasing

1-1-06 -- O'Reilly is always talking about how his ratings are going through the roof and thanking his viewers for increasing his ratings. But it'a all a lie, his ratings have not gone up at all in the last year. He claims his show gets 6 million viewers a night, which is an outright LIE. At no time in the history of the show has he averaged 6 million viewers a night, ever.

In October of 2004 the O'Reilly Factor was averaging 3.1 million viewers a month and a 2.8 rating, that was his highest rated month since 0ctober of 2004. In October of 2005 the Factor averaged 2.6 million viewers a month and a 2.3 rating. But in November of 2005 the O'Reilly Factor only averaged 2.5 million viewers a month and a 2.2 rating. So his ratings have actually went down over the last year.

His yearly rating is down to a 2.2, with an average total viewer number of 2,490,000 a night. But if you watch the factor you would think O'Reilly's ratings have gone up, when in fact, they have went down more then they did a year ago.

This is the yearly average for the O'Reilly Factor from 12-27-04 to 12-25-05.

Rating - 2.2 -- Total Viewers - 2,490,000 -- 25 to 54 Demographic - 564,000

Former FOX Producer Speaks About War on Christmas

CHARLIE REINA, former Fox News Channel producer:

12-14-05 -- As with many conflicts, particularly the manufactured kind, dishonesty, greed and ignorance are the culprits behind Fox News Channel's so-called “War on Christmas.” But their enabler, as Dr. Phil might call it, is that well-intended but wholly misguided scourge of society -- political correctness. Rather than promoting tolerance, inclusion and understanding, as advertised, p/c has had the opposite effect. It has made us not a freer society, but one of timid, tongue-tied slaves to convention who substitute glib code words for the more difficult task of actually treating each other with respect. It’s the kind of shortcut that sooner or later circles back to bite you.

But first let’s look at what political correctness is, and is not, in this context. Wishing your customers or co-workers, “Happy holidays,” isn’t p/c; it’s common sense. Try saying, “Merry Christmas, happy Hannukah, a joyous Kwanzaa and a prosperous New Year” every time you leave the office, and before long they won’t let you back in. But taking something that’s recognized everywhere – by people of all religious beliefs -- as a Christmas tree and renaming it a “holiday tree” is political correctness, pure and simple.

It adds nothing, reaches out to no one. It’s as offensive as it would be to call a Menorah a “festive candelabra,” or Santa Claus “Jolly old Good-guy Nick.” Granted, as a cause for war, this holiday p/c is no Pearl Harbor. But in its own naïve way, it provides the warmongers with just the ammunition they want.

It’s no surprise, of course, that this phony call to arms, this “Christmas (ergo, Christians) Under Attack” hysteria, emanates from the bowels of Fox News Channel. The network is, after all, ground zero in the culture wars that polarize so much of America these days. Make no mistake about it: Fox is on a mission. Its slogans say, “Fair and Balanced” and “We Report, You Decide.”

Billy O'Reilly Caught Lying About no Country Claiming The Iraq war Was Illegal

Once again O'Reilly is caught lying to the American people. Here is what he said last night (12-12-05) in an interview with a Democratic State Senator from NY about the Iraq war being illegal.

O'REILLY: When you say that Bush went to war illegally into Iraq.
O'REILLY: You are wrong, because the United Nations mandate said that the first Gulf War, cease-fire must be upheld or the United States and all the other coalition partners could go back in. You certainly know that. You don't sign a cease-fire and allow the enemy to disobey it. Come on.
DUANE: And yet the vast majority of the coalition partners did not.
O'REILLY: Doesn't mean it was illegal.
DUANE: Well, they felt it was illegal under international law.
O'REILLY: They did not feel it was illegal. There isn't one country in this world.
O'REILLY: You shouldn't be saying things that aren't true. It was not an illegal invasion to remove Saddam.

Those are all lies from Billy O'Reilly, not one thing he said is true. Spanish, Canadian, Australian, and a lot of American legal experts say the Iraq war is illegal. Just do a google search on "Iraq War Illegal" and you will see that almost every international law expert agrees that the war in Iraq is illegal. You could disagree with the experts, but to state as fact that no country says the war is illegal and claim it's a fact is dishonest and a lie.

The US and British governments have claimed that their invasion is justified by UN Security Council Resolution 1441 (So Does Billy O'Reilly) and two old Security Council resolutions authorizing force to end the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait and setting out the terms of the cease-fire after the Persian Gulf War of 1991. The 1991 resolution required Iraq to rid itself of weapons of mass destruction.

John Currie, a University of Ottawa law school professor, described these arguments as fatally flawed. The 1991 resolution stated that the Security Council “decides to remain seized of the matter and to take such further steps as may be required for the implementation of the present resolution.” The Security Council—not the United States, Britain or other council members acting on their own—must decide on further use of force, Professor Currie said.

Phyllis Bennis from the Institute for Policy Studies said this:

Iraq signed the ceasefire resolution (687) with the United Nations, not with the U.S., and only the UN Security Council can determine whether it is complying and what to do if it is not. The U.S. Congress does not have the right to determine that any UN Security Council resolutions will be enforced by the use of force, regardless of any finding that violation of the resolution may effect the national security interests of the United States. Further, several of the UN resolutions referenced (including 688) were not taken under Chapter VII and have no legal basis for military enforcement.

Bush promised to have the 2nd UN resolution vote that would have authorized the use of force, he said there will be a vote and let the chips fall where they may, no such vote ever happened, and here is why. The Bush and Blair governments abandoned their efforts to secure a new UN resolution to authorize the use of force, after failing to win any more than four out of fifteen votes. They also faced vetoes by France and Russia and public opposition by Germany and several other members of the council.

Billy never mentions any of that, he cherry picked parts of the UN resolution that makes his argument sound correct. Yet he ignores the parts that prove he is a liar, and wrong about the claims that nobody says the war is illegal.

O'Reilly Caught Red Handed Using Year Old Clip From 2004 Daily Show

12-10-05 -- You know this war on Christmas is bogus when O'Reilly has to use a year old clip from the Daily show to fraud his viewers. And Jon Stewart is Jewish, so he does not observe Christmas.

This whole war on Christmas is made up by O'Reilly, Hannity, Gibson, and the religious right. They are doing it to fool the American people into thinking the big bad secular progressive liberals are trying to do away with Christmas and Religion. It's ridiculous, liberals do not want to do away with Christmas or Religion. Nobody cares if you say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Seasons Greetings, except for O'Reilly, Hannity, Gibson, and the Religious right. And liberals do NOT want to do away with Religion, we just dont want it in the schools or government when taxpayer money is used.

Jon Stewart gave Bill O'Reilly a beatdown for his misleading use of a year old Daily Show clip from December of 2004 to show what O'Reilly claims is a current "war on Christmas."

During the 12-2-05 broadcast of O'Reilly's Fox News talk show The O'Reilly Factor and his Fox News radio show The Radio Factor, O'Reilly used a year-old video clip from The Daily Show to demonstrate what he claims is an ongoing "war on Christmas" by secular forces. However, O'Reilly falsely told his radio listeners the clip had aired the day before and left his cable viewers with a similar misleading impression.

Stewart stated satirically: "Apparently, we liberal secular fags here at Comedy Central have fired a devastating year old six second long joke that doesn't barely even make any sense to us anymore across the bow of Christianity."

The Bill O'Reilly Denial That is a Lie, And His Own Words Prove it

The Radio Factor, 11-29-05:

O'REILLY: "There is a move under foot to discourage people from buying in stores that do not use 'Merry Christmas' in their advertising. I am not a part of that.

But look at what he said on the Neil Cavuto show:

O'REILLY: They don't have to say "Merry Christmas" in China, OK? They can say whatever they say in China, "Happy Winter." All right? "We like pandas." Say whatever you want. This is America. This is the big commercial holiday. You're not going to acknowledge the holiday? Then I'm not shopping there. And that's what the bottom line is here. The backlash is building, building, building, and these retailers are going to find out as Federated Department Stores Inc. found out last year -- that's Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Burdines. They didn't say it last year. This year Federated is saying it, so they took a hit.

Call me crazy but unless I can not read english O'Reilly said "You're not going to acknowledge the holiday? Then I'm not shopping there." Yet on his radio show he said he was not part of that movement, from what I see he lies so much he cant keep his lies straight.

If any of you brainwashed O'Reilly lovers can explain to me how O'Reilly can say that and claim he is not part of that movement, please e-mail me. How can you say if a store does not use the word "Merry Christmas" you will not shop there, then deny you are part of the move under foot to discourage people from buying in stores that do not use 'Merry Christmas' in their advertising ? O'Reilly also listed all the stores that are refusing to use Merry Christmas, if he is not part of that movement why did he publish the list ? I thought he had a no spin zone, if that is not spin I'm Elvis.

O'Reilly Chickened Out of Debate With George Clooney

12-6-05 -- Just as I thought O'Reilly is the real coward. I was flipping through the channels the other night and I saw George Clooney on the Dan Abrams show. Dan asked Clooney about his feud with O'Reilly, at one point he mentioned having a debate with O'Reilly. Clooney said he agreed to debate O'Reilly on the Charlie Rose show on PBS, Rose had it all set up, they just needed O'Reilly to agree to a time and a date.

Big bad Billy O'Reilly said NO, his excuse was that Rupert Murdoch would not let him do it. What a load of bullshit, he had a debate with Paul Krugman on the Tim Russert show on CNBC, Murdoch did not seem to care about that. So the king of calling people cowards is afraid to debate George Clooney, and he is the one who said Clooney is afraid to debate him. He also said Clooney is afraid to go on the Factor, when Clooney has said he will debate O'Reilly anywhere but on his show.

On top of that Dan Abrams offered to host the debate on his show, he said he called O'Reilly and asked him if he would debate Clooney on his show and O'Reilly said no again.

So the big bad Billy O'Reilly is the real coward, he knows Clooney is smart and well informed, and he knows Clooney would wipe the floor with him in a debate. That is the real reason he will not debate George Clooney, it has nothing to do with Rupert Murdoch, O'Reilly is just a coward who is afraid to debate a well informed liberal.

Billy O'Reilly Makes Top 10 Conservative Idiot List at (Again)

#10 Bill O'Reilly

And finally, exciting news for those of you who have been following the Bill O'Reilly saga - the Falafel Master's fabled enemies list (see Idiots 223) is finally online! Don't get too excited though - unless you're the New York Daily News, the St. Petersburg Times, or MSNBC, you're not on the list.

Yes, Bill's attempt at McCarthyism is a tad weak at the moment - he only has three names listed so far, and they're the aforementioned news organizations. Presumably they neglected to say anything complimentary about Bill's suggestion that Al Qaeda terrorists should blow up the Coit Tower in San Francisco.

Come on, Bill! Your list is lame! Where's Where's Where's Where, for that matter, is Democratic Underground? We've been ripping you a new one for years!

So be a pal - put down that telephone, switch off your vibrator, and get your list on. There are millions of people out there waiting to patronize the organizations you despise.

Fox News Poll: Bill O'Reilly's Fake War on Christmas

12-3-05 -- O'Reilly had FOX do an opinion poll and ask if you believe there is a war on Christmas, but I dont think this is the answer he wanted. Even in a biased FOX poll he still lost. They even worded the poll to nudge them to the answer they wanted. It should have said Is there a war on Christmas do you agree or disagree, instead of There is a war on Christmas do you agree or disagree. They asked the question in a leading way by wording it the way they did, and they still lost.

It's just more proof this war on Christmas crap is a non-issue that nobody cares about. The whole thing was made up by O'Reilly, Hannity, Gibson, Falwell, Robertson, etc. They are doing it to make liberals look bad by claiming secular progressives (liberals) want to do away with Christmas and Religion, which is ridiculous. We dont want to do away with Christmas, and we dont care what you call it. And we dont want to do away with Religion, we just dont want it in schools or Government.

Bill O'Reilly Voted World's Worst by Keith Olberman (Again)

12-1-05 -- The bronze goes to Bill O‘Reilly. He has solidified in his status as this generation Joe McCarthy. Just like the “Red Baiter,” he now has his own list. His Web site reads the following media operations have regularly helped distribute defamation and false information supplied by far left Web sites. The list, “The New York Daily News, “The St. Petersburg Times,” and MSNBC!

You call it defamation, Bill. We call it precise quotes from your show.

The runner up. Bill O‘Reilly. On “The Today Show,” no less. Now how did that happen? Says, quote, “these pinheads running around going, get out of Iraq now, don‘t know what they‘re talking about. These are the same people before Hitler invaded in World War II that were saying, he‘s not such a bad guy.” Watch. That will turn up tomorrow on his list of defamations.

But tonight‘s winner, Bill O‘Reilly! You know this whole attack on Christmas nonsense that he made up? Some sort of fantasy in which the liberals are coming to your town to force you and your family to not call it Christmas anymore? The fantasy that we can‘t say Merry Christmas, but you can only say Happy Holidays?

The thing designed to stir up religious hatred and paranoia in this country? Guess what they‘re selling over at the FOX News online store? The FOX News holidays ornament? And the O‘Reilly Factor Holiday ornament. Who is trying to change Merry Christmas into Happy Holidays?

Bill O‘Reilly, that‘s who.Today‘s worst person in the world!

Operation: Falafel

11-8-05: Bill O'Reilly: Hey, you know, if you want to ban military recruiting, fine, but I'm not going to give you another nickel of federal money. You know, if I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium, and I say, "Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead."

And if Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.

Bill O'Reilly crossed the line by endorsing an al Qaeda terrorist attack against San Francisco. It is time to do what should have been done a long time ago - hit him in the wallet. We must notify O'Reilly's sponsors that they are, in fact, sponsoring a man that has stated his support of a terrorist attack against San Francisco.

The Most Ridiculous O'Reilly Statement of The Day

10-26-05 -- O'REILLY: Those guys have poured tens of millions of dollars into political organizations designed to harm people with whom the left disagrees. For example, Soros and Lewis have each donated two and a half million dollars at least to, which is a relentless liberal attack machine.

So "Billy" is crying about 2.5 million dollars donated to by Soros and Lewis, and he claims that is going to ruin America and harm people the left disagrees with. That is garbage, they use that money to promote liberal ideas and an agenda to help the people. This was nothing but a biased one sided right wing propaganda segment with 3 Republicans and nobody from the left to provide the balance. Not to mention they never said a word about the hundreds of millions wealthy conservatives donate to far right foundations and groups. Not a word about the Heritage Foundation, AEI, ATR, the Sarah Scaife Foundation, nothing. The right has been doing this for 10 to 15 years, yet "Billy" has no problem with them.

Funny how "Billy" never mentions any of this:

In 1994, a core group of 12 conservative foundations controlled more than $1.1 billion in assets; from 1992-94, they awarded $300 million in grants, and targeted $210 million to support a wide array of projects and institutions. Over the last two decades, the 12 have mounted an impressively coherent and concerted effort to shape public policy by undermining and ultimately redirecting what they regard as the institutional strongholds of modern American liberalism: academia, Congress, the judiciary, executive branch agencies, major media, religious institutions, and philanthropy itself.

They channeled some $80 million to right-wing policy institutions actively promoting an anti-government, unregulated markets agenda. Another $89 million supported conservative scholars and academic programs, with $27 million targeted to recruit and train the next generation of right-wing leaders in conservative legal principles, free-market economics, political journalism and policy analysis. And $41.5 million was invested to build a conservative media apparatus, support pro-market legal organizations, fund state-level think tanks and advocacy organizations, and mobilize new philanthropic resources for conservative policy change. The strong role that conservative foundations have played in shaping national and state policy debates reflects not only impressive cash reserves, but also a sophisticated funding strategy:

Hey "Billy" why dont you read this then report on it:

Happy Anniversary, Bill O'Reilly!

On Day of Atonement, Fox star's sex harass lawsuit turns one

10-13-05 -- Seems fitting that today, Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, marks the first anniversary of the Bill O'Reilly phone sex/falafel/loofah lawsuit. O'Reilly, no member of the tribe, paid penance with his checkbook days after Andrea Mackris leveled her X-rated charges. So join us as we recall that noteworthy day in legal history with the below reprise of our original story.

Republicans Violate House Rules by Holding 5 Minute Vote Open For 50 Minutes

Update 10-14-05: Not a word from O'Reilly on this story, so much for fair and balanced.

Will O'Reilly report this story, sure he will, when pigs fly. He is too busy attacking media matters for reporting the truth about him. O'Reilly dont care about important issues like this because it makes Republicans look bad. Reporting on a website (media matters) that tells the real no spin truth about him is more important than Republicans violating house rules to rig a vote for the oil industry.

CBS News correspondent Bob Fuss reports there was chaos on the Hour floor as Republican leaders passed the bill by holding a five-minute vote open for almost 50 minutes until they could convince two Republicans to change their votes.

When over two dozen Republicans initially voted no, DeLay, Barton, House Speaker Dennis Hastert and new Majority Leader Roy Blunt circled the chamber to cajole holdouts. "Once again, on an issue of critical importance to the American people, the Republican Majority has chosen to trample the democratic process and manipulate the outcome of a vote on the Floor of the House of Representatives, after the vote was completed."

"Is this the House of a Banana Republic?" Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., shouted at one point, expressing his frustration about the GOP holdup of the final tally.

Several Democrats protested that the vote was held open. "I am informed that every member of Congress who is in town has voted," Democratic whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland said at one point, when the tally was 210 yes, 214 no.

No Democrats voted for the legislation.

FOX Caught Editing Factor Transcript (Again)

Once again we have clear proof the factor edits their transcripts, even though O'Reilly has said his show is never edited. Not only do they edit it, they have errors on the text of who said what. They have Clark saying something that O'Reilly said, and they remove text that makes O'Reilly look bad. The FOX transcript also left out a line from the General where he says he dont want US troops put in danger either.

FOX Transcript:

O'REILLY: General, you need to look at the Malmady (ph) massacre in World War II and the 82nd Airborne.

Newshounds Transcript:

O'REILLY: General, you need to look at the Malmedy Massacre in World War II and the 82nd Airborne who did it.

FOX Transcript:

O'REILLY: I agree with that, but I don't want to put our guys in the field in any more danger.

CLARK: Hellerstein is wrong.

Newshounds Transcript:

O'REILLY: I agree with that, but I don't want to put our guys in the field in any more danger.

CLARK: I certainly don't want to put them in danger, either.

O'REILLY: OK. Hellerstein is wrong.

The FOX transcript left out the part where O'Reilly says the 82nd Airborne who did it. The truth is the 82nd Airborne did not do it, the Germans did the Malmedy Massacre not the 82nd Airborne. And it has Clark saying Hellerstein is wrong, when O'Reilly said it, and they left out the part where the General says he dont want to put the troops in danger either.

So how can we believe anything from O'Reilly or the FOX transcripts when they are highly edited and full of errors. Their credibility just went to zero, it was already there by me and most people on the left, but now we have proof their credibility is zero.

Bill O'Reilly Voted World's Worst by Keith Olberman

On his September 14 radio show, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly publicly wished that Hurricane Katrina had flooded the United Nations building in New York. O'Reilly then added: "And I wouldn't have rescued them."

O'REILLY: Bush to address the U.N., says we must be steadfast in battling terrorism. I'm sure all the U.N. people fell asleep. They don't really care about anything over there at all. I just wish Katrina had only hit the United Nations building, nothing else, just had flooded them out. And I wouldn't have rescued them.

OLBERMAN: But your winner, the big giant head, Bill O‘Reilly on his radio show saying, “I just wish Katrina had only hit the United Nations building, nothing else, just had flooded them out. And I wouldn‘t have rescued them.”

Bill evidently does not realize that, if the U.N. at 48th Street and 1st Avenue in New York City got flooded out by some 50-foot wave, there would be an excellent chance that FOX News at 48th Street and 6th Avenue in New York City would also get flooded out, and only the incredible supply of hot air he keeps in his lungs might keep him above the flooding water.

If you watch his show, does he get physically dumber as the hour wears on?

Bill O‘Reilly, today‘s worst person in the world.

Right-Wing Idiot Mows Down Crosses at Camp Casey

Larry Northern, 59, of McLennan County, was charged Tuesday with Criminal Mischief Over $1,500 and under $20,000 after a pickup truck tore through a row of white crosses erected by anti-war protesters gathered near the President’s ranch in Crawford.

Bail was set at $3,000.

The crosses bear the names of U.S. military personnel who have died in the war in Iraq.

Can you imagine what O'Reilly would say if a Democrat ran down 500 crosses with the names of US troops who had died in Iraq on them, and the right-wing idiot also ran over American flags. Will O'Reilly call him a traitor and call for him to be tried for treason, hardly, he will probably call for him to get a medal. I predit that O'Reilly will just ignore this story because it was done by a Republican.

Update: As predicted O'Reilly totally ignored this story, not a word about it on the factor, so much for fair and balanced.

Stupid And or Mostly Untrue O'Reilly Quotes -

O'Reilly said this after him and Fox news sued Al Franken for using "fair and balanced" on the cover of his book. The hypocrisy from O'Reilly is stunning. O'Reilly makes a living trying to hurt businesses and people he disagrees with, then he cries foul when someone does it to him or fox news. The guy has lost his fricking mind. He got Ludacris fired by pepsi, and he also called for a boycott of pepsi. That is two examples right there of him trying to hurt businesses and people he disagrees with.

"The main point here is that trying to hurt a business or a person because you disagree with what they say is simply unacceptable in America. And that message has been sent by FOX. There's a principle in play. Vigorous debate is embraced by us, but smear campaigns will be confronted. "

-- Bill O'Reilly Talking Points, The O'Reilly Factor, 8-13-03

"Once the war against Saddam Hussein begins, we expect every American to support our military, and if you can't do that, just shut up. Americans, and indeed our foreign allies who actively work against our military once the war is underway, will be considered enemies of the state by me."

-- Bill O'Reilly, The O'Reilly Factor, 2/26/03

Dear Mr. O'Reilly, Here is one quote you may want to think about. And no it's not from one of the liberals you hate so much, it was said by a Republican President.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

Theodore Roosevelt, Republican, 1918

Americans deserve honest, fair reporting from all news organizations. In this age of terror, we must have accurate information and hear both sides of issues in order to adequately protect ourselves and our families. This is not a conservative/liberal issue. This is an honesty issue. The country needs its premier newspapers to be trustworthy and look out for us, but not so bitterly ideological that they can't report the news straight.

-- Bill O'Reilly Talking Points, The O'Reilly Factor, 5/29/03

"The code of ethics is to tell the truth as you know it and not to distort anything or exclude anything. That's basically the big tent under which we operate..."

-- Bill O'Reilly, Talk of the Nation, NPR, 07/30/02

"I call them a fascist organization, because what they're doing is using terror to further their agenda."

-- Bill O'Reilly on the ACLU, The O'Reilly Factor, 1/9/03

"The Nielsen ratings for May are in. And once again, THE FACTOR was the highest rated cable news program in the world."

-- Bill O'Reilly, The O'Reilly Factor, 05/05/01

"Putting your ego above the welfare of others equals the loss of all credibility."

-- Bill O'Reilly, Talking Points 4-22-2003
