Former Clinton Chief of Staff Comments on O'Reilly Racist Statements
9-30-07 -- And Podesta said the same thing I did, that instead of saying he was misquoted and taken out of context Billy should just apologize and move on. If he had done that it would have been a 2 or 3 day story, instead of a week long story.
John Podesta, Pres. Bill Clinton's former chief of staff, and currently head of the Center for American Progress, is speaking out on Bill O'Reilly's radio comments. In an interview with David Goodman of Boston's WERS-FM Podesta said O'Reilly should apologize.
"What Bill O'Reilly says never surprises me because it's always so over the top. In this case, I think it offended some people. I think rather than saying he was misquoted and quoted out of context he ought to just apologize for what he said and move on from there."
I agree with Mr. Podesta. But lets get real about this, no spin zone right. O'Reilly did an hour long discussion on the radio factor about race relations in America. In that hour he made a couple racist comments, now he claims that if you do not play the entire hour long tape of the dicussion you are quoting him out of context.
That is ridiculous, no news show has the time to play the entire hour. And in fact, O'Reilly never quotes the whole tape, or reads the whole transcript when he quotes people. So he does what he says other people cant do, so it's total hypocrisy. To be quoted in context you only have to quote enough of the conversation so that people know what you are talking about.
O'Reilly is trying to impose standards for quoting him that he does not have himself, and standards that nobody could implement because of time limits. And on top of that if you make racist comments like this:
O'REILLY: "I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship. It was the same, and that's really what this society's all about now here in the USA. There's no difference."
O'REILLY: "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, 'I want more iced tea.' You know, I mean, everybody was -- it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all."
Those are racist comments, even if they were quoted out of context. If I talk for an hour on race, and I make 1 or 2 racist comments, they are still racist comments, even if they are out of context or not. I dont care if you play the whole hour long tape and put his comments in context, they are still racist comments, and he still said them. To even say those things shows what he thinks in his mind, in context or not.
Billy is saying he was misquoted, but nobody misquoted him, those are his words, right from his own transcript. He also claims his statements were taken out of context because the media outlets who reported on them did not play the whole hour long tape. Which is insane, and that means Billy has to play the entire tape when he quotes someone, and that will never happen, on any news show, including the factor.
O'Reilly Claims Liberal Media is Smearing Him
9-27-07 -- Billy now claims that his words were taken out of context and says he is no racist. According to O'Reilly it's all lies and a big liberal conspiracy to get him fired.
Except he fails to mention that even the former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough said O'Reilly's racist comments were revolting, after listening to them he said he was shocked and he needed to take a shower.
SCARBOROUGH: He could not get over the fact that there was no difference, even though the restaurant was run by black people.
BRZEZINSKI: Yeah, thanks, Bill O'Reilly. Alrighty.
SCARBOROUGH: It is shocking. So, I've got chills right now, going up and down my back. I'm gonna throw it over to you all and think I'm gonna take a shower.
Joe Scarborough is clearly not part of the liberal media, he is a diehard conservative, and even he is offended by what O'Reilly said. Funny how O'Reilly does not mention that, because it kills the argument that it's only liberals attacking him. Not to mention all the black people who called and e-mailed Rick Sanchez at CNN and told him they were offended by what O'Reilly said, they are not part of the liberal media either.
The truth is O'Reilly got caught making more racist comments, so he is trying to divert attention away from him, and what he said, by claiming it's all lies and smears by the liberal media. When even some conservatives think what he said was racist. Billy got caught saying what he really thinks, now he is trying to back off what he said, it's like trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube, you can't do it. Nobody is smearing him, they simply quoted his own words. Even if you listen to the entire tape you will see that he made the racist comments they claim he did, they are his own words, no smear, just quotes from his own transcript.
O'Reilly Makes Racist Comments About Black Owned Restaurant
9-26-07 -- During the 9-19-07 O'Reilly radio factor show Bill O'Reilly made some racist comments.
What O'Reilly said was racist, that is a fact. Yet instead of admitting he made a stupid racist comment, and then say he is sorry, O'Reilly is attacking everyone who reported on his racist comments. It's the old attack the messenger trick to divert attention away from the stupid thing you said.
O'Reilly and Al Sharpton went to a black owned restaurant in Harlem called Sylvia's, then on the radio factor O'Reilly said he couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's and any other restaurant in New York City.
O'Reilly implied that just because it was a black owned restaurant with mostly black customers he was shocked that everyone was not going crazy and screaming and yelling F___ this and F___ that, he said there wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, "M-Fer, I want more iced tea."
Now those are racist comments, he is saying that he thought all the black people in black owned restaurants do nothing but run around out of control, and crazy, screaming M-fer I want more iced tea. He was shocked when he learned that blacks in that Harlem restaurant were just like everyone else. And that they were just ordering and having fun with no craziness, like that is what he thought all blacks do in black owned restaurants.
Once again O'Reilly proves what a racist he really is, this is just one of 3 or 4 racist comments he has made over the last few years. And he says these stupid racist comments on the air, when most racists only say that stuff in the privacy of their home, which just shows how stupid O'Reilly really is to say this stuff on the air.
And Billy claims this is just a hatchet job by the liberal media matters. But even the REPUBLICAN Joe Scarborough hammered Billy for his racist comments on his morning show on MSNBC. Rick Sanchez on CNN hammered Billy, and he said every black person he talked to was offended by what O'Reilly said.
The local news in NY (WABC) also hammered Billy for his comments. They interviewed people who go to that restaurant, and they were all offended by what O'Reilly said. So it is just not media matters hammering him for the racist comments, almost everyone is, including a lot of Republicans. And all media matters did was quote O'Reilly word for word from his radio show, so how is that doing a hatchet job on him.
Billy is just trying to discredit the messenger to divert attention away from what he said, and to dismiss them as biased liberals who just lie about him. When you can read what he said for yourself and see that the comments were racist. Don't just believe media matters, read (or listen to the audio) of what Billy said and see for yourself.
O'Reilly Lied About Troop Support
9-19-07 -- Last night Bill O'Reilly said the left hates the troops.
Once again Billy is lying, he is a liar. The left supports the troops, all Americans support our troops. I support the troops 100 percent, and I honestly believe anyone who even signs up to be in the military is a HERO. And every liberal I know thinks the exact same way.
O'Reilly tells that lie to help Republicans get votes by making people think the left hates the troops, it is a lie, a total lie, we love the troops, and we support them 100 percent. The left does not oppose all wars either, I supported the attack on Afghanistan, and the attacks on Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. I also support the war on terror, as almost all Americans do.
There are a lot of people on the left who hate George W. Bush, that is true. Because he has been the worst president we have ever had. Bush is a total moron who was put in office on his name by the supreme court, he is just a speech reader, Cheney is the real president. Bush got us into an un-needed and un-justified war in Iraq.
Not to mention the hundred other things he has screwed up, that is why people hate Bush. Right now his approval rating is 29 percent in the latest zogby poll released today.
And O'Reilly wonders why the left hates him, because he puts out these right-wing talking points lies that the left hates the troops. When nothing could be further from the truth, we love the troops and support them 100 percent. What we oppose is George W. Bush, not the troops, and it is dishonest to claim the left hates the troops. Billy claims he is not a partisan right-winger, yet almost every night he tells a lie about the left to make them look bad. And he calls that a no spin zone, I call it an all right-wing lie zone.
More Right-Wing Bias From FOX
9-14-07 -- Billy says there is no right-wing bias at FOX, and he said if anyone has any examples of it, send it to him and he will report it. Yet to this day Billy has never reported any of it, I send him examples of right-wing bias at FOX all the time and none of it has ever been reported.
Following President Bush's speech last night, Fox was the only broadcast network that did not air Sen. Jack Reed's (D-RI) rebuttal. ABC, NBC, and CBS all aired the Democratic response.
NBC News #1 in The Morning Hours
9-14-07 -- Billy O'Spinny claims that NBC News has moved so far left all their viewers have stopped watching them.
But Meet the Press with Tim Russert is the No. 1 Sunday morning program in all categories. The program averaged 3.445 million total viewers, a 48% advantage over second place Face the Nation on CBS, a 50% advantage over This Week on ABC, and 178% more viewers than FOX News Sunday.
Not to mention NBC is #1 in the weekday ratings too, so they are #1 all 7 days of the week in the mornings.
For the week of Sept. 3:
Total viewers: NBC: 5,190,000 / ABC: 4,610,000 / CBS: 2,440,000
25-54 demo: NBC: 2.0 / ABC: 1.6 / CBS: 0.8
If everyone has stopped watching NBC News, how can they be #1 in the mornings for every day of the week.
And yes ABC slightly beat NBC in the evening news ratings, by 30,000 viewers.
Evening News Ratings - Total viewers for the week of -9-3-07:
ABC: 7,810,000 / NBC: 7,780,000 / CBS: 5,460,000
25-54 demo: ABC: 2,400,000 / NBC: 2,300,000 / CBS: 1,770,000
25-54 rating: ABC: 1.9 / NBC: 1.9 / CBS: 1.4
Hey Billy, 7.810 to 7.780 is a virtual tie, and they both had a 1.9 rating with an 8 share, if everyone left NBC News because they have moved to the left, why are they getting 7.78 million viewers a night. Funny how the real truth looks so much different then when you hear the so-called truth from O'Reilly.
Keith Olbermann Beat O'Reilly Friday Night in The 25 to 54 Demo
9-11-07 -- For people who do not know, the 25 to 54 demographic numbers are the most important ratings numbers to the advertisers who buy commercial time on tv shows. It's called the money demo, because people age 25 to 54 spend more money than any other group of people in America.
As the insight express media buyers study said:
"The 25-54 demographic is the single most important sector media buyers and planners use when purchasing commercial television, an unprecedented and comprehensive study of top media professionals has found. The study found that the 25-54 demographic emerged the leading age segment that advertisers target in their media plans."
On friday night Countdown with Keith Olbermann beat the factor in the 25 to 54 demo. Keith had 365,000 viewers, O'Reilly had 324,000.
Yes O'Reilly still gets about triple the total viewers, 2.2 million for O'Reilly to 800,000 for Olbermann. But if you compare the percent of the demo to total viewers advertisers like the Olbermann numbers more. Almost 50% of the Olbermann viewers are in the all important 25 to 54 demo. While only about 15% of the O'Reilly viewers are.
This shows that most of the factor viewers are older than 54 and the average age is 71. I watch Olbermann almost every night, where you get real news, I suspect that is why his ratings are increasing, and the factor ratings are flat. The O'Reilly factor has become the no news factor, and the ignore the news factor. If you want to see what a real news show is you should tune in to Countdown with Keith Olbermann at 8pm eastern on MSNBC.
O'Reilly Calls People Who Participate in Democracy Blackmailers And Assassins
9-7-07 -- But he only calls Liberals and Democrats who voice their opinions to their elected officials blackmailers and assassins. Billy does not call Conservatives and Republicans who do the exact same thing blackmailers and assassins.
Yesterday on the radio factor Billy said that if you tell an elected official (one that you elected) what you want him to do, or not do, or you will vote him out of office that is blackmail.
O'REILLY: "It's interesting how vicious this MoveOn outfit and all their other acolytes actually is. And, you know, I've said it before, but when I get this kind of a thing dropped in my lap, I have to report it to you because it is -- what's happening in America is now the far left is blackmailing the Democratic Party. They are basically saying, "Look, if you don't go along with our far-left opinion, we're going to attack you."
The people at moveon.org are just average Americans who got together to form a group to get the people they like elected, or to get the people they dont like out of office.
Hey Billy, it's called Democracy, why do you have a problem with Democracy. You are an un-American Traitor who should move to China, and I will raise the money for your plane ticket so you can move there.
Funny how Billy dont have a problem with Republicans telling Republican politicians what they want. And Billy dont have a problem with corporations donating money to politicians to get what they want. And Billy dont have a problem with Republican lobbyists donating money to Republican politicians to get what they want. They all tell them that if they do not do what they want they will vote them out of office, or get them voted out of office. That is how it works in a Democracy, the elected officials are supposed to represent the people and what they want.
Then O'Reilly said the people at mediamatters.org are assassins.
O'REILLY: "They have two primary mainstream media outfits to get their defamation out. That's The New York Times and NBC News. Elements at both of those places take Media Matters and MoveOn stuff and put it on the air and in their newspaper, legitimizing it. The assassins who work for Media Matters are very well paid. They make six figures. They are doing it for money. All right, and they are the most vicious element in our society today."
The Republicans use the wall street journal, the washington times, the FOX News Network, townhall.com, freerepublic.com, etc. to get their defamation out. The assassins who work for FOX News are very well paid. They make seven figures. They are doing it for money.
Mediamatters.org is a media watchdog group, they find examples of media bias and they report it. All media matters does is post transcripts and or videos of what Billy and others said, and then show that he is either spinning or flat out lying, that is all they do, so 1) how is that wrong, and 2) how does that make them assassins. How are they assassins when all they do is report what Billy said word for word.
Billy is just mad that they expose the truth about him, and he tries to smear them as assassins and nuts to discredit them. Yet if you go to their website you will see they only post his transcripts, and the video, so they do nothing more than show you his own words, and then show you how he put his spin on an issue, or flat out lied about it.
More Proof O'Reilly Was Wrong About NBC News Viewers
9-6-07 -- For months Billy has been saying the reason NBC Nightly News is not #1 anymore is that they have moved left and the viewers stopped watching.
Here is the real truth, O'Reilly is just trying to make people believe NBC News has moved left so people will stop watching them. The reason he does that is because Keith Olberman exposes all his spin, his right-wing bias, his hypocrisy, and his lies every night during the worst person in the world segment.
O'Reilly is just trying to get revenge on NBC and Keith Olbermann. So he makes up a story that NBC News has moved left in the hopes that people will think they have a liberal bias and either not watch them or stop watching them.
Last week NBC News with Brian Williams beat ABC News in the ratings, NBC had 7.8 million viewers, ABC had 7.6 million viewers. During that week Charlie Gibson was on vacation. So what it shows is that when Charlie Gibson goes on vacation NBC wins the ratings battle. That means people did not leave NBC because they moved to the left. It just means that when Charlie Gibson is on the air he gets a few more viewers than Brian Williams does.
When Gibson is on vacation NBC is #1, so that shows people just like Charlie Gibson a little more than Brian Williams. But when Gibson is not there they go back to Brian Williams. If they stopped watching (as Billy claims) because NBC moved to the left then NBC would never be #1 in the ratings, even when Gibson was on vacation.
And even when Gibson is on the air he only beats Brian Williams by a small margin, so nobody really left NBC News, there are just a few more people who like Gibson more, so they watch him when he is on, when he is not on they go watch Brian Williams. NBC News has not moved to the left, that is a made up story put out by Bill O'Reilly in an attempt to smear them to get revenge on Keith Olbermann.
So what you have is Bill O'Reilly knowingly putting out lies about NBC moving left to get revenge on Keith, and then he calls that journalism. I call is dishonest, and an outrage.
Reporting The Truth on Iraq Deaths
9-4-07 -- If you want to see what bias in journalism is really like just watch how Bill O'Reilly, Hannity, Gibson, and FOX News report on Iraq. The current right-wing spin/propaganda from Billy and FOX News is that the troop surge is working because Sectarian deaths are down. Only the Bush administration is making this claim, even though the numbers tell a different story.
In case you only get your news from Billy or other FOX shows, here are the real numbers, these are the numbers you wont see on the FOX News network.
When you take a closer look you see that Sectarian deaths are up - The Los Angeles Times - citing Iraqi Health Ministry numbers tell a different story. In June 2007, there were 1,227 civilian deaths in Iraq. In July 2007, it went up to 1,753 civilian deaths in Iraq. And in August 2007, it went up to 1,773 civilian deaths in Iraq.
So what you have is the Bush administration misrepresenting the numbers, then they send other Republicans on the tv news shows to confirm the lie, then you have right-wing spin doctors like O'Reilly, Rush, Hannity, Hume, Gibson, etc. claim the deaths are down to reinforce those lies, then after you hear the lie from numerous sources you start to think it is true.
This is bias, it's also dishonest reporting from people who claim to be journalists. If you see anyone claim Sectarian deaths in Iraq are down you should never believe another word that person ever says again. And you should never watch the show they are on again, they are being dishonest too. All the tv news shows do a pre-interview of every guest, so they know what that person is going to say before they put them on the air.
Any tv news show that knowingly puts someone on the air to spin lies and propaganda for the Bush white house and the Republican party is just as bad as they are. That is not journalism, it's partisan bias that is meant to fool the american people. Which is the exact opposite of what the founding fathers wanted from the free press when they wrote the 1st amendment of the Constitution.
