6-6-09 -- After reading this story you will have conclusive proof that Bill O'Reilly is a biased, lying, spinning, right-wing idiot, that will say anything to fit his argument, even though it's a flat out lie that can be easily checked. Read on to see the total dishonesty from O'Reilly.
On the Wednesday 6-3-09 O'Reilly Factor, Billy falsely claimed that on CNN, "only Anderson Cooper at 10 o'clock covered the story" of the slaying of Army recruiter Pvt. William Long. In fact, in addition to the coverage on Anderson Cooper 360, CNN covered Long's shooting on 15 shows from June 1st through June 3rd. O'Reilly made the comments while comparing the coverage of Long's killing and the slaying of Kansas abortion provider George Tiller.
The following CNN shows covered Long's shooting:
* The 1 p.m. hour of the June 1 edition of CNN Newsroom. When O'Reilly stated, "CNN says look, we don't do opinion. We do news. Only Anderson Cooper at 10 o'clock covered the story. Nobody else," his guest, Joe Strupp of Editor & Publisher magazine, replied, "You're right." Proving Joe was as dishonest as O'Reilly, or he had no clue O'Reilly was lying.
Here is the actual transcript:
O'REILLY: On CNN, only Anderson Cooper --Yeah whats in play here is O'Reilly lying about CNN to make it look like liberal bias, when he was wrong, and lying. Sanchez said this about what O'Reilly did:
SANCHEZ: "Let's add this up together now," Sanchez said. "We led with the story when it broke. We led with it again the next day. We analyzed the terrorism angle with experts and called former FBI agents to take us through it. And as a network, we covered the story umpteen times throughout the days, throughout all hours of those days. But Bill O'Reilly says he only saw it once. And btw, last night O'Reilly admitted he got it wrong and said he was sorry. But in his correction and apology to CNN he still made a jackass out of himsef, he said Sanchez was "snide and surly" and never even used his name, he just said the guy at CNN. Then Billy went on to say he rarely ever makes mistakes. When he does, he just refuses to admit it. All Sanchez did was report the facts, the facts O'Reilly got wrong, then O'Reilly calls him snide and surly, when he was the good guy, and O'Reilly was the bad guy who got caught lying.
Here is my question, O'Reilly has said in the past that he has a 15 person staff that does crack research and they have never been wrong. When right here he got it wrong, big time. And he did not need a 15 person staff to research it, one person could have called CNN and asked them what kind of coverage they did on the Private long story.
Instead he makes a fool of himself spewing out a known lie to fit his argument about liberal media bias, in the hopes that his braindead right-wing viewers would believe him (which they usually do) without even checking with CNN to see how much they actually did cover the story. In fact, I would bet they covered it more than FOX did.
This is the worst mistake a journalist can make, he spewed out all these lies about CNN, when a simple phone call could have proven him wrong. But he don't care, he just hoped nobody would call him on it and he could get away with it. Well yesterday Rick Sanchez at CNN called him on it and made him look like the fool he is. I hope to have the transcript Monday, and I will publish it here.
Sanchez nailed O'Reilly big time, he played the clip of O'Reilly lying about CNN, then played clips from the 15 different shows where CNN reported the story. It was the best smackdown of O'Reilly I have seen in a long time, I actually saw it myself, I usually do not watch CNN, but I just happened to be watching CNN when Sanchez busted him. And it's most likely the reason O'Reilly did the correction on the Friday night show, because Sanchez nailed him good.
